How we keep our Tree Surgery, Rope Access and all Arboricultural Services safe

Lifting Operations andLifting Equipment Regulations - LOLER

All DC Access work is fully insured with £5 million public liability cover. Method statements and risk assessments are completed for each project.

All lifting equipment used by DC Access Ltd is subjected to a six monthly LOLER inspection.

Our plant and all of our machinery are serviced and inspected regularly.

Our arboricultural work is carried out to local Planning Laws.

Health and Safety Policy

It is the policy of DC Access Ltd, Kendal, to promote the safety and well being of the staff at work in accordance with industry best practice by using guidance from the British Standard, BS 3998.

It is the company’s policy that all practical steps will be taken to ensure the health of persons and prevent damage to equipment.

Method statements and risk assessments are provided for all operations and will be used to provide operatives with the information on how our tree surgery and rope access work is to be carried out and the correct precautions to be taken.

All tree services and rope access services undertaken by DC Access personnel are carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Working at Height Regulations and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).

Current qualifications are held by all DC Access operatives to undertake any operation required, e.g. City and Guilds NPTC, IRATA, LANTRA.

Lifting equipment used by DC Access is inspected on a daily basis before use and is subject to a thorough inspection by an independent competent person every six months using Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).

All arboricultural machinery operated by DC Access is thoroughly maintained, check sheets are completed on a daily basis when machinery is used.

Hazardous substances are used in accordance with COSHH Regulations 1992. Data sheets are kept for all substances used and personnel are made aware of the safe use of these substances.

DC Access personnel and arboricultursts wear all the latest Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that conforms to the latest Health and Safety Standards.

All accidents must be reported to the Health and Safety Director of DC Access Ltd to be recorded to ensure processes can be reviewed and monitored to prevent any further incidents.

Responsibilities:

  • The Director is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of his employees and others who may be affected by the Company's activities.
  • Employees are required to participate actively in and accept individual responsibility for health and safety matters and work with the company to assure compliance and support continuous improvement.
  • DC Access Ltd is covered for £5 million Public Liability and £10 million Employers' Liability.
  • The Director will provide information, instruction and supervision to all personnel to ensure they are competent to perform any task.
  • Reviewing this policy annually or when changes in circumstances dictate to ensure validity.
